Wilton Land Becomes Canvas For Outdoor Art Exhibition

WILTON, Conn. – The sight of two large orbs in Keeler Ridge Meadow off Route 33 in Wilton might leave you scratching your head as you drive by. But artist Christopher Curnan just wants you to be curious.

These two spheres on the Keeler Ridge Meadow site off Route 33 in Wilton are part of "All One Color," an exhibit by artist Christopher Curnan.

The Keeler Ridge Meadow site, a property of the Wilton Land Conservation Trust, will be home to Curnan’s “All One Color” outdoor exhibit.

Curnan, who lives in Ridgefield, incorporates industrial and organic materials in the project, which is certainly eye-catching. The two large spheres in the field Tuesday are recycled oil tanks that he has painted. More will be added periodically as a way of telling a story, he said, and they will appear in different spaces in the meadow.

“It’s really for fun,” said Curnan. “It’s to take a moment of time and think about something other than the economy and shuffling around and to stop to think about how lucky we are.”

As for how many spheres will be placed at Keeler Ridge, Curnan is keeping that secret. “I can’t tell you that,” he said. “They kind of tell a story with where the placements are. They have a meaning to them.”

Curnan presented a similar project in Redding.

The Wilton Land Conservation Trust owns 107 parcels of land totaling more than 700 acres, including the 5-acre Keeler Ridge Meadow site. The trust aims to retain some of the town’s rural roots and provide preserves for passive recreation.
