The event's proceeds go directly to the Whittingham Cancer Center to fund extensive support services for patients, research and clinical trials, prevention and screenings, and a new cancer center that will open this fall at Norwalk Hospital.

The 5K -- dubbed Sally's Run -- was started in 2011. It was named in memory of Sally Kalin, who died after an eight-year battle with cancer.
