Vendors are needed for a charity flea market to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at United Storage Norwalk, located at 80 Fair St. Community members are invited to set up a table for $15, which will benefit the Norwalk Emergency Shelter and the Norwalk Housing Foundation College Scholarship Fund. Vendors are encouraged to donate a portion of their sale profits to the charity, but are not required to. There will also be trick or treats for kids.
"As part of our unique organizational core values, our staff is encouraged to make a positive impact on our communities by identifying local people and organizations that need assistance," said Chris Martinez, manager of United Storage Norwalk, in a press release.
"The Norwalk Emergency Shelter and Norwalk Housing Foundation College Scholarship Fund are such strong assets to our community and we wanted to be a part of their fund raising efforts so they can continue to offer the resources we need as a growing community. During these economic hardships, there are more families in need of vital assistance. Norwalk Emergency Shelter and Norwalk Housing Foundation College Scholarship Fund need all the help they can receive to continue to give hope to local families in need. A variety of merchandise will be on sale, such as tools and jewelry. We are already getting a lot of great vendors for the sale. We're hopeful that we will attract a lot of buyers the day of the event."
In addition to the flea market, a cash collection jar will be available throughout the event for the community to stop by and drop off funds for both charities. United Storage Norwalk will also offer a special discount on storage space to flea market patrons on the event day. For more information, call Martinez at (203) 845-7945.
