The event was part of the 38th Annual Lightfoot Summer Series Road Race. The highest finisher was 34-year-old Norwalk resident Carlo Agostinetto (51.53). The female winner was Lindsey Russo, 22, (1:05.15). Lindsey’s cousin 12-year-old Frank Bonaddio of Norwalk was the youngest runner to ever complete the Eaccarino Memorial Race.

Bonaddio received a plaque from the Courage to Speak Foundation recognizing his commitment to a healthy lifestyle. In attendance at the race was Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling and wife Lucia Medower Rilling. State Senator Toni Boucher was also present to say a few words.

190 runners participated in the Memorial Race which featured support from 20 volunteers at four water stations throughout the course as well as at the finish line. The race was a wonderful way to bring the community together while promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Ginger and her husband, Larry, have been members of the Lightfoot Running Club for over 30 years and are co-founders of the Courage to Speak Foundation, which develops drug prevention programs to assist schools and communities in Norwalk and across the country. The race is dedicated to Ian Eaccarino, the son of Ginger and Larry, who passed away after a drug overdose.

The 9-Mile Race is dedicated to Ian's memory, as he worked at the beach the summer before he died and personally planted many of the trees that are now aligned with this beautiful beach.
