NORWALK, Conn. Ronald F. Wicke of Norwalk died Saturday, May 12, with family at his side at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was 56.
Born Feb. 28, 1956, in Norwalk, he was the son of Fredrick Wicke and Jean Olsen Wicke. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School.
An entrepreneur, Wicke's most recent endeavor was co-founding and serving as national director of programs for the nonprofit Stop Abuse Campaign. He enjoyed cooking and sharing his food with friends and family.
A former Trumbill resident, Wicke was an avid fan of the New York Giants, Yankees and Rangers. One of his greatest joys was being involved in his children's athletic accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ann Bodnar Wicke; a son, Brian Wicke, of Burlington, Vt.; a daughter, Erika Wicke, of Norwalk; his father, Frederick; his step-mother, Elizabeth Wicke; a sister, Debora (Gary) Johannesen, of Warren, Vt.; a brother, David (Rebecca) Wicke, of Fairfield; his mother-in-law, Anne Bodnar; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Jean; his father-in-law, Joseph Bodnar; and a brother-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wicke family through the funeral director.
