NORWALK, Conn. -- Volunteers from the area went to work at Christie’s Quilt Shop on Main Avenue in Norwalk to sew, press and cut quilts to be awarded to local veterans as part of the Quilts of Valor of Program.

At noon Saturday, May 17, everyone stopped sewing for a moment as a Connecticut Quilts of Valor representative presented quilts to eight veterans for their service to the country.

Those receiving quilts from the area included Mayor Harry Rilling, Archie Elam, Tony Velez, Richard Layda, Robert Adams, David Zavory, Feliz Guiffra and Steve Stefanidis.
