NORWALK, Conn. Phyllis Beeghly Kopec, of Norwalk, died April 27 at Norwalk Hospital with family at her side. She was 90.
Kopec was born May 15, 1921, in Greenwich to Wood and Viola Gass Beeghly. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1939. Married to the late John Kopec, she was a member of the Rainbow Girls Club.
During World War II, Kopec worked at Yale and Towne in Stamford. She enjoyed spending her time with her family as well as knitting, crafts, shopping at tag sales and watching the New York Yankees. Kopec was a former resident of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Kathleen), of Bethel and Richard of Sharon, Conn; a daughter Laurie, of Norwalk; a brother, Wood Beeghly; three sisters, Viola (Russell) Wright, Blanche (Robert) Berry and Sylvia (Fred) Stunkel; and three granddaughters. She was predeceased by her brother, Elias Beeghly; and her sister, Mary Jensen.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Stamford.
