“We had expected this process to take the better part of three weeks,” said Janet King, the director of volunteers for the local charity People-to-Person, or P2P. “However, P2P volunteers are so hard working and efficient that they were able to complete this project in record time.”
Volunteers with P2P sorted, inventoried and placed on display mass quantities of donated clothing and related items, said King, adding that the team finished its task a full week earlier than expected.
As a result, the group will again accept seasonally-appropriate clothing, footwear, outerwear and small household items beginning on Jan. 17, according to King.
The director of volunteers said she’s thankful for those who gave of their time, for those who donated to the Clothing Center this past holiday season and for those who have been patiently holding onto their donations until P2P is back in service.
“People in the P2P communities are so very supportive of our work and were willing to accommodate this hiatus so we could organize the Clothing Center to better serve those who come to us for assistance,” she said.
