The Star Council award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented charitable activities.

The award will presented to the membership at a special ceremony held at the Knights of Columbus Museum in November.

To earn the distinction, a Council must actively participate in several service programs centered on church, community, council, family, youth, and Circle of Like while also growing its membership by at least 7 percent including growth in those who participate in the various insurance programs the Order has to offer.

Council 14360 achieved these goals, and was also one of the most active councils in Connecticut. In a year marked by 75 service events and the highest growth the council has seen since its inception in 2007, Council 14360 consistently answered the call of “Catholic Gentlemen who are men of faith and men of action."

“We are honored just to serve but to be named Star Council is an honor. It signifies the amount of time and energy my Brother Knights contribute each year," said financial secretary Anthony Armentano. "It is not just about camaraderie but about serving our Church and community. This council has a lot of heart. I am proud to serve with them."

Grand Knight George Ribellino echoed Armentano’s comments, “We have a great group here in our Council who are ready to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever they are needed. To be Grand Knight of such an active and inspiring council is an honor I am thankful for each day. It is pretty amazing,'' Ribellino said.

The Saint Matthew Knights helps out such organizations as All Saints Catholic School, Notre Dame Convalescent Home, FCA, Al’s Angels and Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport.
