Norwalk's Godfrey American Legion Recruits New Members, Helps Vets

NORWALK, Conn. -- As part of its upcoming 100th anniversary in 2019, the Frank C. Godfrey American Legion Post No. 12 in Norwalk is hosting its third district post membership revitalization program from Thursday, Nov. 13, through Saturday, Nov. 15.

The event will be held at 60 County St. in Norwalk from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. 

Post members from across the state will be on hand to contact prospective and new veterans to join or transfer into the local posts.

A Connecticut service officer will be on site for three days to assist veterans with VA medical and benefits issues and to complete their paperwork.  

Senior Membership Co-Coordinator Michele Steinmetz, from the American Legion National Headquarters, will be in attendance at the event as well.

All veterans and members are invited to stop by the post to learn more and/or volunteer to help contact veterans. Participants should bring a cellphone and a charger.

Legion Posts across Fairfield County are expected to be represented.
