Norwalk's Cranbury Park Hosts Connecticut Tree Festival

NORWALK, Conn. -- The ninth annual Connecticut Tree Festival went off without a hitch Saturday at Cranbury Park in Norwalk. Despite the threat of inclement weather and a misting rain, families came out to enjoy the event.

The tree festival is aimed at raising environmental awareness and understanding the importance of trees as a valuable resource.

Part of how the tree festival hopes to accomplish those goals is by offering younger visitors plenty of tree-related entertainment. Rides, crafts, face painting and two cherry pickers taking children around the park's Great Lawn were all part of the event.

Exhibitors with ecological interests were also on display.

The event was sponsored by the Norwalk Tree Alliance, Norwalk Tree Advisory Committee and Wilton Garden Club.
