The Storys are retiring to Florida after 35 years of dedicated service to the church and the greater Norwalk community. They have ministered to 169 families and 242 children.

The event will be held at Community Advent Christian Church at 16-18 Van Zant St.

Robert Story graduated from Berkshire Christian College with a bachelor's in theology in 1970. His first church as pastor was Advent Christian Church in Bridgton, Maine, from June 1970 to February 1972. This was followed by service as pastor at the Advent Christian Church in Clear Fork, W.Va., from February 1972 to June 1979.

He accepted the pastorate at Community Advent Christian Church in June 1979. The Storys moved to Norwalk and have been actively in the community ever since.

He has been a part of the Norwalk Hospital clergy, as well as the Norwalk Clergy Association and East Norwalk Clergy Association in which he participated in East Norwalk ecumenical events. He is an accomplished and talented musician, and has written five children’s Christmas musicals in their entirety for the church children and two anthems for the church choir.

In addition, Story was a Norwalk school bus driver for 25 years from 1986 to 2011. During his tenure as a driver, he received numerous awards for safety and reliability.

Brenda Story started the Tot-Stop religious education and preschool child care program in the church basement in 1982. The program grew in standing and importance within the local community and was moved to an auxiliary building in 1990. Tot-Stop was renamed King’s Kids in 2005. She has also been actively involved in Birthright in Norwalk.

The Storys have two children: Daryl Story and Liesl Gabriele. Both are graduates of Norwalk public schools. Daryl is a neurologist in private practice in Norwalk. Liesl continues the ministry of King’s Kids. They also have three grandchildren.
