The city of Norwalk invites residents who are having problems with the heat to cool off on the city's dime. The Community Room at City Hall and both of the city's libraries have been designated as cooling centers.
The Norwalk Public Library, located at 1 Belden Ave., is open Thursday from noon to 5:30 p.m. Hours Friday are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The South Norwalk Branch Library is also open Thursday until 5:30 p.m., and is open Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. City Hall is open into the evening, although its website does not specify hours.
Mayor Richard Moccia also encourages everyone to drink plenty of fluids and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
