Norwalker: I'm the Qualified Candidate for Clerk

NORWALK, Conn. – Peter Bondi is an independent candidate for town clerk. His father is a Republican on the Common Council.

Norwalk deserves a better choice for town clerk.

I have seen letters written in support of my opponents for the position of town clerk, but none of them evidence the qualifications I have. Consider this letter to the editor an interview process for you, the voter, to decide who is better qualified for the job.

The town clerk position is a crucial resource for the citizens of Norwalk. It is primarily a keeper of the records: births, deaths, weddings, historical documents, licenses and real estate transactions, according to state statutes, federal regulations, municipal charter and local ordinance. The town clerk also works during election time, administering election laws and processing absentee applications and ballots. He oversees an office staff while staying within the city budget.

I have 26 years of business management, ownership and customer service. I have worked with Norwalk's finance department on a city budget and followed the municipal charter as chairman of the Norwalk Historical Commission. As a Realtor, I'm knowledgeable with state statutes, federal regulations and land title requirements pertaining to real estate transactions, a core function of the town clerk position. My work with the Norwalk Museum and as a private collector has taught me about document preservation. I have also worked with the town clerk's office and registrar during Election Day as well as performed duties as a justice of the peace.

My proven leadership skills and total commitment to organizations such as the Norwalk Seaport Association, Norwalk Arts Commission, Celebrate the Past, Habitat for Humanity and the Norwalk Historical Commission have shown that I carry on a family tradition of volunteering and involvement in our community. And yes, Fred is my Father.

If you look at all the duties of the town clerk, it is evident that my many years of business experience, customer service, performing duties on Election Day, working as a realtor and volunteer service have prepared me to be "A Better Choice" for this position.

Please don't consider the position of town clerk on the basis of a major party affiliation. Consider it as a job that needs to be done by someone with the ability to hit the ground running, pick up were the previous town clerk left off and continue to make needed improvements in the office. That is why I worked hard to establish an independent party called "A Better Choice." If you're a capable candidate for office you should have the right to run – and win.

On election day please cast your vote for Peter Bondi "A Better Choice" for office of Norwalk town clerk. I will work for you.
