Norwalk Tree Alliance Identifies Trees On Sheffield Island

NORWALK, Conn. -- Members of the Norwalk Tree Alliance assemble in front of the Sheffield Island Lighthouse (established 1868) on an excursion to identify trees on the island for signage to be affixed for the edification of sightseers.

Among the trees noted: sassafras, hackberry, box elder, red cedar, white and red oak, white and pitch pine and red maple. The island on Long Island Sound is the locale of the Stewart B. McKinney Wildlife Refuge.
