The show, the 18th International Children’s Art Exhibit, will run through Labor Day. The art is displayed in the Maritime Aquarium’s IMAX Theater Lobby, and it is free and open to the public for viewing.
This year’s theme is “Food for Thought,” and children ages 8 to 18 were asked to illustrate something that is important to their cultures, such as a value or belief. They were also asked to include a food in the artwork, whether it was being cultivated, prepared or eaten.
The show is presented by Creative Connections, and the works were submitted through the organization’s ArtLink program. The work by the Norwalk students includes:
• “Freedom to Paint” by Jonette Colletti, Stepping Stones Museum for Children • “One Year” by Lisa Kwok, Center for Global Studies • “The Ages of Hunting” by Greer Lammens of Roton Middle School • “A Family Gathering” by Taina Pagan, Center for Global Studies • “My Kitten Leo” by Victoria Silva-Meza, Side-by-Side School
Many other students from Fairfield County, and even more from Connecticut, have works in the exhibit.
Sponsors for the event are Fairfield County Bank and Peralta Design, with support from the Department of Economic and Community Development, and the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
