Sponsored by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut, the HOBI Awards are the largest homebuilding industry awards event in the country, and Connecticut’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in new home construction, remodeling, sales and marketing.

Church is a multiyear award-winning broker with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, a rental and certified relocation specialist, and he has closed over 100 units this year. With over 10 years' experience, he has been a top agent since joining the William Pitt Sotheby's office five years ago. He is No. 7 in the entire company in closed units. Church manages a multimillion-dollar portfolio and specializes in high-end listings as well as multifamily developments. He is a preferred relocation broker for companies such as GE, Diageo, Xerox and Nielsen.

As leasing agent for the 63-unit townhouse community, Summerview Square, Church succeeded in establishing a thriving rental market in what had been an abandoned neighborhood on the north side of Norwalk. He marketed the one-, two- and three-bedroom townhouses to empty-nesters who were no longer interested in homeownership, and Gen Y execs who wanted the convenience and action of Norwalk living.

Church leased each phase of townhomes within weeks of their release, and Summerview Square consistently outperformed high-rise rental developments throughout Norwalk.

“Michael is a dynamo. His enthusiasm in communicating the lifestyle advantages and condolike features Summerview offered, was key to our success and to the recognition we received by the city and our industry," Andrew LaSala, of the Summerview Development Group, said of Church.

Last June, the Fairfield County Business Journal recognized Church, as one of Fairfield County’s best and brightest leaders under the age of 40. At just 30 years old, Church was one of the youngest recipients to be honored.

A 10th-generation Norwalk native, Church began his rise in the real estate industry right out of college, with a newly acquired real estate license and his own property management company. Ten years later, in addition to earning his broker’s license, Church's company, Cutting Edge Property Management, has negotiated, leased and maintained apartment properties for some of Norwalk’s leading developers, and rehabbed a number of the city’s older one and two family homes.

Church is a leader in his community as well as his industry. He serves on the Board of Ethics for the city of Norwalk, on the board of the Norwalk YMCA and on the Fairfield County HBRA Executive Committee. He is also vice president of the Building Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization active in supporting charitable activities in Fairfield County.
