The challenge was made when the church sponsored a World Vision 30 Hour Famine event.
The $60,000 was an increase of $6,200 over last year's total.
In conjunction with "the big shave," St. Philip Church held a "Hope Sunday" event through World Vision. Twenty-five children hailing from 38 countries were sponsored by attendees. For $39 per month, the sponsorship provides food, shelter and education for these children.
Sponsor families are able to communicate with their child via mail with photos, letters and World Vision updates on how they are growing and thriving.
