Officer Mike Silva supervised a number of Norwalk Police officers by using a shoot/don't shoot training scenario during the past two weeks in a trailer parked in Veterans Memorial Park . On Thursday, the last day of the training, Silva demonstrated the training technique for reporters, using his service gun loaded with practice ammo. He watched a video and had to respond as if he were an officer on the scene.
Other officers who conducted the training exercises included Sgt. Det. Charlie Perez and Lt. Brian Cunningham. Nearly every officer in the 175-member department took part in the training.
Do you think you could handle the split-second decision-making shown in the video?
