NORWALK, CONN. – The annual “A Taste of Fairfield County,” held last month at Aitoro in Norwalk, bought together more than 150 attendees and more than 10 food vendors, organizers said recently.
Some of Fairfield’s most celebrated chefs, restaurants, and caterers served up food and drinks to help support a Norwalk-based nonprofit, the Family & Children’s Agency.
The evening event also included live music, raffles, and a presentation by the agency, which provides support and guidance to families with young children.
Robert F. Cashel, the agency's president and CEO, called the event an "enormous success" and “a testament to the hard work and preparation by the (agency’s) Junior Board of Advisors.”
“It was a successful evening of fundraising and friend-raising -- acquainting new individuals in the community with the work of FCA,” Cashel said.
Food vendors included: A Dash of Salt, Bar Sugo, Capriccio Café, DiMare Pastry Shop, Flipside Burger and Bar, Local, Norm Bloom & Son Copps Island Oysters, Norwalk Community College’s culinary program, The Pantry, Rowayton Pizza, Taco Loco, Tacos Mexico, and Viva Restaurant.
Sponsoring the event were: Aitoro, CBP, Diageo, FactSet Research Systems, and MJP Associates.
New Orleans Beatnik Duo provided the live music.
The agency gives support and guidance to more than 1,500 parents and children through programs such as the Nurturing Family Network, Fatherhood Initiative, Maternal Outreach and Mentoring Service (MOMS) Program, Healthy Start, Child FIRST, Parents as Teachers, and Help Me Grow initiative.
It offers programs free of charge -- in English and Spanish -- to families in the greater Norwalk area.
