NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Land Trust plans to honor naturalist Margaret “Marny” Smith during its annual meeting Monday, Jan. 26.
Smith, 82, has opted not to pursue re-election to the organization’s board of directors but will remain an active Norwalk Land Trust volunteer, according to a press release.
Smith’s decades-long record of community service includes serving as Norwalk Land Trust president from 2005 to 2009.
She is also a past president of the Rowayton Gardeners and the author of two books, “A Country Garden for Your Backyard” and “Gardening with Conscience.”
“We’ve come a long way, but there is a great deal more to be done,” Smith said in a press release.
Dave Winston, founder of Cove Island Wildlife Sanctuary, will be the featured speaker for the evening.
The Norwalk Land Trust’s annual meeting will serve refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting officially begins at 7 p.m. in the City Hall community room, 125 East Ave.
