As in past years, grounds-keeping work was done, including adding fresh mulch to shrub areas on the outside grounds, power-washing, moving furniture and touch-up painting. It is the beginning of an important capital Improvement plan for the facility on 76 West Rocks Road in Norwalk.
The chief project from the plan is the renovation of the front entranceway. It will be an automatic sliding door system, which will provide better accessibility and safety for the residents.
“Helping Notre Dame is one of the many things that make it so worth being a Knight of Columbus,” said Grand Knight George Ribellino. “Sister Lucie and Sister Francis are always so appreciative of the work we can provide for them.”
Ribellino, Scott Criscuolo, Ribellino’s daughter, Mia, and fellow Knights Tim Horne, Anthony T. Cossuto, Mike Colaluca (who was Grand Knight when the council’s relationship with NDCS started in 2010), Lee Pino and AJ Cossuto volunteered their time.
During a break in the work, the council attended mass – officiated by Father Paul Sankar – with residents of the home.
On Thursday, May 19, Notre Dame Convalescent Home will have a pasta supper sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council No. 14360 at St. Thomas the Apostle church hall on 205 East Ave. The dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and cost is $20 for adults and $15 for kids 10 and under.
