The ACA recently honored immediate past president Keith Overland, a Wilton resident, with the Chiropractor of the Year award during its annual meeting in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes "exceptional service, achievement and/or leadership to the profession," according to a press release.
"Dr. Overland exhibited all of these qualities and more during his two and a half-year term as ACA president, while working to advance the profession and the association within the reformed health care landscape in the United States," officials said. "Dr. Overland served as president of ACA from September 2011 to March 2014, during which time the association sought increased health care choices for patients and parity for chiropractic physicians as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was implemented across the country."
Overland led ACA in the creation of a 10-year plan that "aims to position chiropractic favorably as health care providers work in increasingly integrated settings," according to the release.
“Dr. Overland is a true example of determination and leadership and has shown a great dedication to his patients and profession,” said ACA President Anthony Hamm. “This award recognizes his unique contributions and honors him for devoting a tremendous amount of time and effort to advancing ACA and the chiropractic profession in light of the increasingly obvious fact that our health care system is broken and that giving patients choices is part of the solution.”
Overland lives in Wilton where he has served as co-chair of the Connecticut Governors Committee on Physical Fitness, a member of former Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s (I-Conn.) Health Care Task Force and a member of the Connecticut Department of Health Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
