Norwalk Community College President To Speak To Y's Men

WESTPORT, Conn. — David L. Levinson, president of Norwalk Community College, will be the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston’s featured speaker at its Jan. 28 meeting at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road.

Levinson has been president of NCC since 2004. He is also vice president for Connecticut State Colleges and Universities on the state Board of Regents for Higher Education.

Levinson’s talk will be timely as he addresses how NCC is remedying many issues troubling U.S. higher education, including student debt and student unpreparedness for the workforce. 

He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and a master's and doctorate in sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

The recipient of a Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Levinson’s previous appointments also include Teachers College, Columbia University and Tufts University.

The Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of retired and semi-retired men with a continued interest in activity, fellowship, learning and community service.
