NORWALK, Conn. Lester H. Singewald of Norwalk and Hypoluxo, Fla., died at his home in Florida. He was 84.
An Army veteran, he owned Singewald Buick in Norwalk for over 35 years.
The son of the late Lester Martin and Florence Deering Singewald, he was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Norwalk. Singewald graduated from Norwalk High School and attended Bryant College. He was married to the late Mary Matteis Singewald.
Singewald served as past president of both the Connecticut and Tri-State Buick Dealers associations. He enjoyed golfing and was a long-time member of the Shorehaven Golf Club and The Boca Raton Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by three daughters, Leslie (Michael) Modee, Mary Ann (Robert) Genuario, of Norwalk, and Robin (Al) Leonard, of Hypoluxo; a sister, Lorraine Halasz, of Westport; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his longtime friend, Yara Weber. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Maria Veno.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Jerome Church in Norwalk, with burial following at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk.
