Newtown Families Remember Sandy Hook Victims In People Magazine

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Families of Sandy Hook Elementary School victims discussed how they are coping four months after the Newtown school shooting tragedy in recent video interviews and photos with People Magazine.

Parents and siblings of the 20 Sandy Hook students who were killed on Dec. 14 reflected on some of the characteristics they cherished most about their children and shared what they are doing to remember them.  Many told the magazine they have established foundations to honor their children.

Scarlett Lewis, mother of 6-year-old Jesse Lewis, told People she paints portraits of her son as a means of dealing with her loss.  

The parents of Daniel Barden spoke of their kind and affectionate 7-year-old who “was nice to anyone he met.” 

Michelle Gay, mother of 7-year-old Josephine Gay, said during her interview with People that the prayers and love of strangers has been a source of strength for her family and that they have become very close with her daughter’s friends.
