The Norwalk Community Health Center has been delivering quality, innovative care that enriches the lives of community members for more than 17 years, regardless of their ability to pay. As a federally qualified health center, the Community Health facility relies on patient fees, grants and contributions to serve the residents.

The Community Health Center has added affordable pediatric and adult dental health to their roster of health services that includes  adult medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, and behavioral health. Next year, NCHC will be expanding to a second facility in Norwalk to accommodate the growing number of residents.

Under One Roof/The Marvin, a nonprofit housing and day care facility, has been providing services to the elderly since 1997. The Marvin has become a national model for successfully providing affordable housing for the elderly in need of supportive services which incorporate and promote a strong intergenerational program. The Marvin also provides senior housing with optional assisted living services along with an accredited school readiness and childcare program.

The community activities dispel stereotypes and build relationships, educational experiences for all age groups, exercise programs, gardening, holiday activities and more. In 2009, the Marvin was awarded the MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing. The Marvin Children’s center is owned and sponsored by Under One Roof, Inc. and is managed by Bright Horizons Family Solutions.

The Mayor’s Ball is held each January to benefit local charities. The 2018 Mayor’s Ball will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Waters Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien.

The well-attended event has traditionally been held in larger venues such as the Italian Center, which is currently under renovations after a fire. Due to the smaller seating capacity, guests are encouraged to send in reservations early.

Reservations with payment will be accepted until Jan. 17 or until the venue sells out, whichever comes first. Tickets are available at $125 per person. Tables of 10 can also be reserved. Make check(s) payable to the “Norwalk Community Benefit Fund.”

For more information about reservations, call Maritza Alvarado at 203-854-7950. To donate a silent auction item, call Sally Johnson, executive assistant to the mayor, at 203-854-7707. Silent auction donations produce the major portion of the Mayor’s Ball proceeds. Tax-deductible contributions to the Mayor’s Ball can be made at any time.
