NORWALK, Conn. Mary B. Pierzga, 99, formerly of Norwalk, died April 10 at her daughter's home in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Born in Wallingford, Conn., on June 11, 1912, she was the daughter of John and Frances Lenik Tencza. In 1937, she married Joseph J. Pierzga, and the couple moved to Norwalk in 1941. Pierzga lived in Norwalk until 2008, when she moved to Arizona. A devoted mother and housewife, she loved kids, family and entertaining.
Pierzga was an expert seamstress and worked until 1977. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church Women's Guild and an avid pinochle player at Norwalk Senior Center.
She is survived by a son, Francis J. Pierzga, of Cornwall Bridge, Conn.; a daughter, Mary Ann Travitz, of Scottsdale; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pierzga was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; a sister, Stacia Kowalski; four brothers, Walter, Stanley, Carol and Andrew; a daughter-in-law and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church in Norwalk, followed by burial at St John's Cemetery.
