Marion Provenzano, 87, Retired From Norwalk BOE

NORWALK, Conn. – Marion L. Provenzano, 87, of Norwalk and Deerfield Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, April 11, at Norwalk Hospital.

She was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Norwalk and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She worked for the Norwalk Board of Education for 15 years before retiring in 1988.

Provenzano was a member of the Columbiettes Council 1253 and the Norwalk Senior Center. She was a former member of the Pietro Micca Lodge 744, Sons of Italy, and the St. Ann Club.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles J. Provenzano Sr.; three daughters, Mary Ann (Norman) Roberts, of Norwalk, Barbara Tyra, of Trumbull, and Charlotte (James) Albert, of North Haven; a son, Charles (Elaine) Provenzano Jr., of North Haven, and 11 grandchildren. Provenzano was predeceased by a granddaughter, Katie Tyra; a son-in-law, Col. William D. Tyra III; and three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Anthony Williams Jr.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk is handling arrangements.
