Margaret Warren, 85, Nurse, Norwalk Native

NORWALK, Conn. – Margaret "Peggy" Warren, formerly of Norwalk, died May 31 in Norwood, Mass., after a brief illness. She was 85. 

Born Jan. 30, 1927, in Bethel, she was the daughter of Nelson Judd and Pauline K. Washburn. Warren graduated from Norwalk High School in 1945, where she enjoyed participating in school musicals. She was a talented soprano soloist and guitarist. 

Warren then graduated from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing in New Hampshire in 1949. She met her husband, Foster Gage "Bud" Warren, an Air Force pilot from Pembroke, N.H., while working at the hospital. 

They were married Nov. 5, 1949, and made their life together at military bases around the country and overseas. Warren and her husband retired to Cascade, Md., and later to Westerly, R.I.  

For many years, she worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals, including Bellevue Hospital in New York City and Bloss Memorial Hospital in Atwater, Calif. She also volunteered at community blood drives. 

Warren is survived by two sons, Steven M. Warren, of Laughlin, Nev., and Anthony G. Warren, of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; a daughter, Anne Warren Murray, of Walpole, Mass.; two sisters, Edna Merrill, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lorraine Osborne, of Marietta, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Col. Foster Warren; two sons, Foster Hugh Warren and Thomas Charles Warren; a sister, Katherine "Kaye" Springer; and a brother, John Washburn. 

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Timothy's Church Nichols in Norwood. Visiting hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Delaney and Son Funeral Home in Walpole. Burial will be private.
