Lucy Chase, 87, Norwalk Red Cross Volunteer

NORWALK, Conn. – Lucy DiOrio Chase of Norwalk died May 11 at Greenwich Woods Health Care Center. She was 87.

Born in Norwalk, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Concetta Talercio DiOrio. She married William A. Chase, who predeceased her. A graduate of Norwalk schools, Chase was a longtime volunteer for the Norwalk chapter of the American Red Cross.

She also was involved in the St. Anne's Society of St. Ladislaus Church, Church Women United and St. Matthew's Church organizations.

Chase is survived by two sons, Kevin A. Chase, of Irvington, N.Y., and W. Robert Chase, of Collierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Anne Thommen, Elvira Crafton and Emma Cehi; and three granddaughters. She also was predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Malkin and Mary Suga; and three brothers, Ernest DiOrio, Joseph DiOrio and Albert DiOrio.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew’s Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk. Magner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
