NORWALK, Conn. Lorenzo G. Solano of Norwalk died April 17 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 80.
Born March 22, 1932 in Mileto, Italy, he was the son of the late Domenico and Luigia (Neri) Solano. A master carpenter, Solano was a member of Carpenters Union Local 210. He was married to Isabella Mangone Solano for 52 years.
Solano enjoyed playing bocce and watching University of Connecticut Huskies basketball, soccer and golf. There was nothing that made him happier than being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Isabella; two sons, Dominick (Donna) Solano and Philip Solano, of Norwalk; a daughter, Marylou (Christopher) Buswell, also of Norwalk; a brother, Anthony (Maria) Solano; four sisters, Carmelina (Lorenzo) DiStasio, Rina (Nicholas) LaScalla, Franca (Cosmo) Occhiato and Savarina (Ruggiero) Occhiato; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by Laura, Lisa and Mona, to whom he was like a second father. Solano was predeceased by a brother, Fortunato Solano
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Philip Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
