NORWALK, Conn. – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will host its annual “Light The Night” Walk starting at 5 p.m. Friday at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.
The fundraising event is done in communities throughout the United States each year, and it features friends, families, co-workers and others walking to raise awareness for the more than 1 million people in the United States who are living with blood cancer.
During the twilight walk, people will carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in remembrance of those who have died.
“Light The Night is the nation’s opportunity to pay tribute to lives touched by blood cancer,” Jeannie Montano, executive director of the society, said in a statement. “We are grateful to all of our participants for supporting this lifesaving program. The funds raised help LLS support cutting-edge research and provide much needed patient services.”
Walkers who raise $100 or more will be recognized as Champions For Cures at the event. Friday’s event is hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – CT Chapter, 372 Danbury Road, Suite 200, Wilton. For more information, visit www.lightthenight.org/ct or call 203-665-1400.
