NORWALK, Conn. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I am so very tired of having political figures who do not understand what it is to be "for the people" and what it is to be ethical, reliable and trustworthy.
I am not even interested in which party a person represents anymore because it's the person you are voting for, not the party. The word honesty means truthfulness, sincerity or frankness. Another definition is freedom from deceit or fraud. A third definition of honesty is integrity.
I don't know about you but I find it very difficult to listen to politics on any level and even more so when it comes to those that are voted into office to work for us both "us" and the U.S. and fail to do so for a multitude of reasons. There are not many people I would feel comfortable standing behind and saying: "I trust this person. Implicitly. Without doubt. Vote for him." But I do know of one Rick McQuaid.
I know from first-hand experience, so I kid you not when I say Rick's heart is truly for the people. For us you, me, our children. He is trustworthy, ethical and caring again I speak from first-hand experience. He is one of us hard-working, family man, mouths to feed, a wife he loves and children they can be proud of.
I feel honored when I say, "I know Rick." I feel encouraged when I see people like him wanting to work and do right by our town. I do not write this letter lightly, but I do write it truthfully and heart-felt. Rick McQuaid is an honest man. I know that I am not alone when I say, I stand behind Rick McQuaid, I trust him.
"So?" you ask. He has all these great qualities, but can he do the job? Rick is not jumping into this with eyes closed. If Rick is going to do something, he knows his facts, knows what's involved and makes sure he is knowledgeable of the job at hand.
He's not doing this to help him along in his career path he's already proven himself in that arena. He's doing this because he cares, because he knows he'll do an incredible job.
He already knows the workings of the city of Norwalk because he's actively involved. He's been on the town council for 16 years, and does an incredible job as intervention specialist at Naramake. Like the rest of the parents at Naramake, for whom he has done incredible things, it is bittersweet. I can't wait to see the even more amazing things he'll do as town clerk.
He knows the town. He knows the people. He knows the job. He knows honesty.
My vote will be for Rick McQuaid.
