Letter: South Norwalk Needs Resident Participation

NORWALK, Conn. — In keeping with our campaign goals, we want to ensure that residents of District B (South Norwalk) are informed about issues in the district. As you may or may not know, there was a 2nd Taxing District meeting where several cuts were proposed to community service efforts such as the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program.

As we are strongly against these cuts, we were in attendance at this meeting along with several other South Norwalk residents who were also against these cuts. At this meeting, the proposed budget which cut funding to the annual Thanksgiving dinner, the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program and the Energy Assistance Program was rejected by South Norwalk residents. We do not want to see any cuts to funding for community services in our community, and we will continue to vote down the budget until funding is restored to the programs mentioned above. This is just the beginning. We plan to continue to fight to keep and/or create positive opportunities in our community.

We also promised that we would make sure decisions in South Norwalk include all of the residents. Therefore, we would also like to take this time to let South Norwalk residents know that the Democratic District B monthly meeting will be held on Monday, April 2, at Norwalk City Hall, Room A300 at 6:30 p.m. Please come out and let us know about any concerns you have regarding South Norwalk. Future Democratic District B meetings will be held the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at The Calvin Reform Church, 19 Lexington Ave.

Thank you,A Better South Norwalk Team
