To the Editor,
Monday is Memorial Day, and Norwalk's parade is always one of the best opportunities residents have to say "thanks" to our veterans.
For the past four years a dozen or so East Norwalkers have held red, white and blue 'Thank You' signs as our veterans pass by: a simple, heartfelt gesture that is as emotional for us as it is for the veterans who see them.
This year, wouldn't it be great if our veterans saw a SEA OF "THANK YOU" signs as they proceed from Myrtle Street up to the reviewing stand at The Norwalk Inn? Norwalkers can help make this happen!
Through the generosity of our friends at Northrop Grumman Corporation, this year we have 2,000 11x17 signs! Volunteers from across the city will be helping to distribute the signs to parade goers.
Saying "Thank you" to our veterans for their service and sacrifice is important. So when you join your neighbors at the parade this year, please watch for our volunteers distributing the signs, and be sure to get one to proudly hold as our veteran pass by.
For more information, or to volunteer to help us distribute the signs, contact Diane at firstname.lastname@example.org or (203) 854-6930.
