Kirk Smith, 67, Norwalk Native

NORWALK, Conn. – Kirk St. John Smith, of Norwalk, died March 19 after a long illness. He was 67.

A burial ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canann will be announced at a later date.

Born March 21, 1944, in Norwalk, he was the son of the late Russell and Dorine Smith. A longtime resident of New Canaan, Smith attended New Canaan public schools. He played varsity football for the Rams and was active for many years as a football official. Smith enjoyed all high school sports activities associated with the town.

Smith was a longtime employee of Bob’s Sports store in New Canaan before moving with his parents to Norwalk. An avid fisherman and hunter, he spent many weeks vacationing in Maine, enjoying his pursuit of the outdoors and eventually retiring to Maine.

Smith is survived by three brothers, Russell Smith, Jr., of Raymond, N.H., Lloyd (Randy) Smith, of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Kent Smith of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
