Lori Russo, from Runabout Farms, a Bedford, N.Y., organization that rescues horses and other animals, supervised the pony rides on two of the animals the organization has saved.

Steven Spencer, from Weston, watched his daughters Naomi, 2, and Alexandra, 5, ride the ponies. Then they walked over to the petting zoo where a baby doll lamb and a Nigerian goat were happy to receive attention.

Inside the grange, vendors sold farm fresh produce, baked goods and crafts.

Lulu Morgan, of  Rowayton, offered free samples of her chess pie, a Southern specialty. "They're all made from scratch, with no preservatives," she said.

Rose Gazy, from Gazy Brothers Farm in Oxford, was selling produce that will be available this winter including leeks, potatoes, carrots and salad greens. She'll also have apples until January, she said.

The Winter Farmers Market will continue every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. through May 4 at 12 Good Hill Road, Weston.
