Get Rolling to Register for SpinOdyssey

NORWALK, Conn. – Registration has started for SpinOdyssey 2012 , the indoor cycling fundraiser that benefits American Cancer Society breast cancer research and Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center. The event takes place Sunday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Intensity, 490 Westport Ave., Norwalk.

SpinOdyssey also includes Zumba, yoga, indoor tennis and body pump. Westport’s Patty Kondub and Norwalk’s Terri Polley are the co-chairs for the event.

“At SpinOdyssey, our goal is to unite the community in fitness while making breast cancer a thing of the past,” Polley said.  “As a survivor and a longtime event participant, I look forward to sharing the positive energy of this amazing day.”

Participants can register individually or as part of a team at the registration link at www.spinodyssey.org . Indoor cyclists can register to ride for two-, three- or six-hour shifts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They can also register for a number of off-the-bike fitness activities, including:

• A workout with Herman Walker from 9 to 10 a.m.; Zumba with Marcello from 10 to 11 a.m.; Zumba with Diana and Karen from 11 a.m. to noon; Zumba with Marcello from noon to 1 p.m.; body pump from 1 to 2 p.m. and yoga from 2 to 3 p.m.

• Adult tennis players can participate in two-hour or all-day “point play.” Youth tennis sessions are also available.

Now in its 13th year, SpinOdyssey has raised more than $3 million for breast cancer research and breast cancer patient and family support services. In 2011 alone, the event raised $473,000 for the cause.
