In addition to the award presentation, more than 170 attendees enjoyed dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions at the Norwalk Inn and Conference Center.

The event raised more than $50,000 to benefit the preservation of the historic Sheffield Island Lighthouse and the NSA’s education programs. During the event, attendees were also able to sponsor a child, or a boat full of children, to visit the Sheffield Island Lighthouse during the upcoming season.

“The pledge card idea evolved from our annual ‘Paddle Raise’ where we raised funds for a specific program or project. This year, we asked people to pledge funds for our education program on the island allowing local children to participate who otherwise would not have the opportunity,” said NSA President Vinny Sciccchitano.
