Frisch, 30, graduated from Wilton High School and from the University of Pennsylvania with an individualized concentration in food studies and a bachelor's in environmental studies and public health. She started her own food blog, Frisch Kitchen (formerly Cayuga St. Kitchen), in 2011.
On her biography on the Food Network page, Frisch is described as “the girl next door who has traveled the world – she is a first-generation American who comes from an Italian and British background, and has family members on five continents.”
On EmmaFrisch.com, she said she was largely taught cooking by her mother, Fenella Pearson. She was also influenced by friends and “my olive-oil stained cookbooks.”
“I believe anyone can become fearless in the kitchen, and I love teaching people how to boost their kitchen confidence with simple, ingredient-driven recipes,'' she said on the website. "My approach to food is simple: food with roots. I’m inspired by ingredients and family recipes that tell a story about land and culture. I love how food gives us a way to pass down wisdom, history and memories through generations, whether by sharing a recipe or a meal around the table,’’ she wrote on her website.
Frisch's parents now live in Norwalk.
