Liberation Programs includes two long-term residential substance abuse treatment programs. Located in Norwalk, the Families in Recovery program serves up to 50 pregnant or parenting women a year, also providing special services for children since mothers can bring two children up to the age of 10 into the program with them. Liberation House in Stamford provides residential treatment services to 65 men at a time.

Bank employees used the Liberation Programs Wish List to collect needed items such as diapers, formula, new bath towels, new clothing for children and adults, and personal care items. They will distribute these items to residents of both programs.

The bank employees donated enough items to fill 1 1/2 SUVs. Karen Kelly, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at First County Bank, delivered the employees’ donations to Liberation Programs.

“One of our priorities at First County is to serve the communities in which we work, and it has become a tradition at our holiday party to make a contribution to one of the area nonprofits. This year, we chose Liberation Programs because we want to recognize their work in helping to break the cycle of addiction. We know that not only helps the individual, but improves our whole community.”

Liberation Programs also includes outpatient programs, special services for older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS, and extensive education and prevention activities in the community. For more information, visit www.liberationprograms.org.

First County Bank, headquartered in Stamford for more than 160 years, is an independent mutual community bank with 15 branches in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport.
