James "Jimmy" Booth Jr. loves to run. And even though he is focused on his firm, Booth Financial Associates , the medals on his office wall betray his other interests.
"Oh yeah, I've run 22 marathons so far," Booth said from behind his computer and stacks of financial documents. Booth is a practical man, and his office at Booth Financial Associates is a testament to functionality. Not even a nameplate adorns his desk, its place usurped by a simple plaque bearing only the words, "Notary Public."
Booth is humble about the marathons, preferring to focus on his company. But it doesn't take much research to turn up some facts. He's attempting to run at least one marathon in every state, and has raced in Ireland and Canada, too.
Behind his desk though, Booth is all business. Straightforward and to the point, Booth is one of the 20 members on the Booth Financial Associates team. His father started the company in 1989 after 20 years in the banking industry. The financial planning firm has offices in Norwalk and Salem, Mass.
Marathons and finance aren't all that consume Booth. He sits on the alumni board at Southern Connecticut State University, where he earned a degree in political science, and he is treasurer for the Norwalk Jaycees.
Booth said it focuses on creating and implementing plans for its clients but emphasized that it is a fee-based system. The Booths are confident in their skills, and their time and advice doesn't come free. "There is a lot of value just in the planning stage," Booth said. "A lot of time and effort goes into it."
