Donut Delight To Open Near Norwalk/Darien Line

NORWALK, Conn. – Elaine Curran needed to know: When will the Donut Delight open?

The reader of The Daily Norwalk had seen the sign for the new business, opening soon in the building formerly occupied by Fairfield County Bank on Connecticut Avenue near the Norwalk/Darien line. She reached out on Facebook to get an ETA, with the words, "I can't wait!"

If you're wondering, too, rest easy: it won't be long. An employee of one of the four Donut Delights in Stamford said work is nearing completion. The new store should be open in early February, if not late January.

Gabriel Karamanlidis of Olympic Painting agreed. Karamanlidis, a Stamford resident, was in his next to last day of painting Wednesday. "It'll be open by the end of the month, most likely," he said.

Gus Kazantzidis of GSK Electric said work began four months ago. The sign that caught Curran's eye went up two weeks ago. He lives in Stamford and goes to Donut Delight every day, because it is convenient and they have "good coffee."

"They make the best bran muffins," Karamanlidis said. "The doughnuts are good, too. I don't eat too many of them but they are good."

"I LOVE Donut Delite!" Curran wrote. "The coffee is always fresh, never tastes 'burnt' like at other places. The donuts are never stale, and they are a good size, too. I can't wait for them to open!! ... Take a ride into Stamford and try their coffee...you'll be a fan, too! :)"
