NORWALK, Conn. Clara Charlotte Schnable Langer of East Norwalk died May 20 at her home. Known as "Claire," she was 94.
She was born Jan. 27, 1918, in New York City to Benjamin and Celia Schnable. Langer enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is remembered by family for her resilience and "salty tongue."
She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Langer; a brother, Julius Schnable; and a sister, Muriel Schnable Falk. She is survived by two sons, Herbert (Fay) Langer and Robert (Shelley) Langer; a daughter, Sharon (Matthew Horowitz) Langer; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family thanks Langer's caregivers, Clova Grant, Lee Sheridan and Coralyn Ford, as well as the staff of Elderhouse, Geriatric Care Management and Connecticut Hospice.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk. Burial will follow at Independent Hebrew Society Cemetery in Norwalk. Shiva will be observed at the home of Sharon Langer and Matthew Horowitz on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
