Claire J. Elbert, 82, Longtime Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. – Claire J. Anderson Church Elbert of Norwalk died June 1 at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by family. She was 82.

Elbert was born in Norwalk in 1930, tp Olaf and Gertrude Sheehan Anderson. She  attended Norwalk High School and was married to Frank Elbert. She retired from R.T. Vanderbilt in Norwalk and was also a Stanley Home Products representative for 65 years.

In her spare time, Elbert enjoyed her memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, The Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary and Moose Lodge in Bradenton, Fla. She was also a member of St. Ann's Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary in Norwalk.

Elbert is survived by three daughters, Christine Hoermann, of Ansonia, Conn., Patti Church, of Sarasota, Fla., and Heidi Elbert, of Norwalk; a son, Tom (Arden) Church, of Norwalk; a brother, Al Anderson, of Georgetown; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, her stepfather, Otto Olson; and a brother, Patrick.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.
