NORWALK, Conn. Employees at GE Capital in Norwalk got together in a creative way to have a canned food drive by making sculptures of the cans.
The sculptures are a part of the national GE food bank and pantry aids and were judged Wednesday. At each GE Capital location, teams of employees collected cans of food and built sculptures completely made out of the collected food items.
In Norwalk, the winning team were the builders of the Telescope Looking to Beyond. They won a pizza lunch and business-wide recognition.
The sculptures include a train, a robot looking through a telescope, a bridge and a shuttle made out of a total of more than 3,500 food items.
This is the third year we've been a part of this exciting GE event and were thrilled to once again receive food items so critical to our ability to help Norwalk families in need, said Christi Pope, executive director for Christian Community Acion.
