Aslan Kanshaw, Norwalk Marine Veteran, Dies at 34

NORWALK, Conn. – Aslan "Al" H. Kanshaw of Norwalk died May 19. He was 34.

Kanshaw served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1998 to 2006. He served during Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2001 to December 2002 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from February to November 2003, receiving many medals and honors.

He attended Union College, where he was a member of the ETA Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha fraternity. Kanshaw most recently worked as a project manager for Affinion Group in Connecticut.

Kanshaw is survived by his wife, Ashlee Kelly Kanshaw; his mother, Amira Massoud Kanshaw; and his sister, Sasha Kanshaw.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Santangelo Funeral Home in Woodland Park, N.J. A service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any U.S. Marine Corps charity.
