NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Hospital and Danbury Hospital were ranked among the Top 10 hospitals in Connecticut and recognized for several specialty services in a new study in U.S. News & World Report.
Norwalk Hospital was ranked sixth in the state and was awarded high-performing grades in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, geriatrics and pulmonology.
Danbury Hospital was ranked seventh in the state and was awarded high-performing grades in orthopedics and urology.
Yale-New Haven Hospital was ranked the top hospital in the state and was also ranked nationally in 10 different specialty services.
The magazine publishes its Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care when facing particularly difficult surgeries, challenging conditions or added risk because of other health problems or age. Objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, the adequacy of nurse-staffing levels and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.
The specialty rankings and data were produced for U.S. News by RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Using the same data, U.S. News produced the state and metro rankings.
