GoFundMe fundraising campaigns have been started by friends and family on behalf of Jodan Davis, 16, and his best friend Tre Childers, 15, who were involved in a crash at approximately 3 p.m. on March 16 when Davis lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.

According to the organizers of the GoFundMe campaign, the page has been set up “to assist the Davis family with mounting costs tied to the accident.”

Both Davis and Childers needed to be extricated from the vehicle following the crash on Highland Avenue. The two Sheehan High School students were then transported to a local hospital, where they continue to recover from the injuries sustained in the crash, which remains under police investigation.

According to a Fox 61 report, Childers is in the pediatric intensive care unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is being treated for bleeding on the brain and a collapsed lung. He has reportedly begun speaking intermittently for the first time since the crash.

As of the afternoon of March 21, $8,265 has been raised on behalf of Davis, while nearly $20,000 has been raised on behalf of Childers.
